MSCE 2025 Results Released, 58.44% Pass Rate Announced by MANEB: The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has officially released the 2025 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination results.
According to the statement, a total of 194,584 candidates sat for the examination. Out of these, 113,708 passed, representing a 58.44% national pass rate.

Conditions for Awarding the MSCE
Candidates are awarded the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) if they meet either of the following conditions:

Obtain a pass in six (6) subjects including English, with at least one credit pass.
Or -
Obtain a pass in five (5) subjects including English, with at least three (3) credit passes.

Male candidates: Out of 100,909 who sat for the examination, 63,367 passed, representing a 62.80% pass rate.

Female candidates: Out of 93,675 who sat for the examination, 50,341 passed, representing a 53.74% pass rate.

The results highlight a noticeable performance gap between male and female candidates, with male students outperforming female students by almost 9%. This reflects ongoing challenges faced by girls in education, including social and economic barriers.
The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has congratulated all candidates who successfully passed the 2025 MSCE examination. The board further urged parents, teachers, and education stakeholders to continue supporting students, especially girls, to improve pass rates in future examinations.
